Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) in collaboration with Singida Regional Office held the Second SIDO- National Exhibition that included entrepreneurs from all the regions of Tanzania including neighboring country of Kenya, Uganda and Burundi. The exhibition took place at Bombardier Stadiums in Singida from 4/10 to 9/10/2019 with slogan which means "Excellent and innovative technology for small and medium enterprises is the key pillar of a sustainable economy".
The exhibition was officially opened by Prime Minister, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa Kassim (MP) on 7/10/2019. In his speech, the Prime Minister congratulated SIDO management and staff on the excellent work of designing and coordinating SIDO's national exhibition; and Singida Regional Commissioner for accepting and hosting the exhibition. He was also pleased to see various technologies including various machines used for processing, grinding, filtering of various products as the way of adding values to our available natural resources and many products with required quality and standards made by Small and Medium Industries (SMIs).
He stressed that the innovations exhibited by SIDO are what five-phase government's proposed. He urged entrepreneurs to become more involved with the SIDO’s exhibition as it is a great opportunity to make their products known locally and internationally; the opportunity to meet services offered by other SMEs support institutions; the way to receive product reviews through feedback and challenges from customers; access various technology for better processing, expanding the scope of partnership with private sectors, raising awareness about institutions that provide a variety of services to entrepreneurs including education etc. Honorable Prime Minister called on various banks in the country to enable entrepreneurs to grow their business by offering them low interest loans.
In addition, the minister said that the demonstrations have dispelled the myth that, the best thing is to get out. He added that our products are of good quality and have national and international standards as they are accredited by the internationally accredited organization, the Tanzania Standards Organization (TBS). The Minister said that there is a need to look at how to prioritize locally produced products and put strategies in place to make them more marketable. He wanted different stakeholders to invest in the country and the investment should focus on quality and sustainability.
The exhibition was officially closed on 9/10/2019 by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Hon. Innocent Bashungwa.
