Regional Background
Iringa is situated in the southern highlands of Tanzania, bordering Singida, Dodoma, Morogoro, Ruvuma, Mbeya, and Lake Nyasa. 73% of the region is arable land. It boasts of high production of cereal crops such as maize. Thus it is among the group of regions termed as "the big four".
