Regional Background
Shinyanga region is situated to the north west of Tanzania. It is the central region in the northern province, bordering Mwanza, Mara, Kigoma, Kagera, Tabora, Singida and Arusha.
Shinyanga region's main output is livestock, its cattle herds are second to those of Arusha and is a major producer of leather. Agricultural activities are dominated by cotton which is the main cash crop from the region. Mining is an extensive activity, with gold and diamond being the most available.
