This profile envisages the establishment of plant for the production of sunflower oil with a capacity of 70,542.7kg per annum equivalent to 23,514.2 Litres (only 42% of total market share). The present demand for the proposed product is estimated at 1,284,709 litres per annum.The demand is expected to reach 3,966,056 litres after three years.
The project targets production of selling of sunflower oil at Misungwi district in Mwanza Region.Misungwi district has 53,497 households and only 29,279(55%) do consume sunflower oil. The average consumption per year per household is 43.8 litres of sunflower. Currently the number of consumers who are health consious is drastically increasing and cholestrol issues are no longer desirable. A good number of entrepreneurs in Tanzania have been struggling to serve the emergence of unsatisfied wants of consumers. Currently there are a number of imported oil and emerging of sunflower oil in the market with different market share due to quality,prices,availability,packaging and mode of distribution. Unfortunately no such industry in Misungwi District.Consumer perception on sunflower cooking oil has increased in the market but is still significant that the market is still unsaturated.
