Rural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Programme

The Rural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise support programme or MUVI is financed by IFAD loan borrowed by the Government of Tanzania. The Ministry of Industry and Trade, through SIDO, executes the programme. MUVI goal is to promote and support development of value chains that will deliver sustainable margins to producers and thus increase their income and reduce poverty. The purpose of the programme is for targeted rural populations to have better access to information to enhance their livelihoods, and for rural businesses to have better access to advice, training and markets. Actual implementation is done with SIDO and other implementing partners (VCIPs) selected value chains in the regions as follows Ruvuma (Cassava, Maize and Sunflower) Iringa (Tomato, sorghum and sunflower) Pwani (cassava, simsim and fruits) Tanga (Fruits, beans and sunflower), Manyara (Livestock and sunflower) na Mwanza (cassava, paddy and sunflower).
