BUSINESS, MARKETING MANAGMENT AND BUSINESS PLAN-KUWAKI GROUPS IRAMBA DISTRICT

SIDO Singida in collaboration of HELVETAS Swiss Inter cooparation-EU KUWAKI project and supported horticulture development in three districts of Singida Region focused on vegetable grower farmers groups. Each part plays a big role on the supporting the chain development, while SIDO concentrated on capacity building in areas of providing skills on value addition, business, marketing skills and business plan, HELVETAS provide financial support to other parts of the chain development. This report presents the implementation of business plan training conducted at Kisiriri Iramba were the training lasted for 8 days. The training involved a total of 33 participants from Kinampanda and Kisiriri wards Iramba District were 20 female and 13 male.

The training aim was to provide knowledge and skills related to business managment, marketing entreprenuership and business plan skills to identified representatives groups. The training will help participants to run their projects in business manner.

Specific objectives include imparting skills on enterprenuership based on personal entrepreneurial characteristics (PECs), Imparting skills on business recording, imparting skills on costing, pricing so as to get enough market share and higher income, impart skills on handling business and family issues, impart skills on business plan preparation and to let them networking with different groups to share the experience.

The participatory approach used during the training session includes lectures, group exercises and presentation, group discussions, brain storming, games and question and answers were used during the training session to enable participants to have fully understanding of knowledge and skills imparted to them.

During the closing ceremony, the participants were urged to apply the skills and practise the knowledge they acquire to produce quality products that can compete in the market. The guest of honor recognized the importance of the private sectors for the development of industries. Also thanked HELVETAS and SIDO for providing such training to improve business and life of vegetable growers in his District. The representative of the participants promised to work hard and apply skills they acquire to ensure that no post harvested crops are wasted.
