Modern animal husbandry requires more than having livestock; it requires accurate knowledge of the best diet for livestock. So training on feed processing is very important for breeders, entrepreneurs and agricultural professionals to improve production, reduce costs and increase profits. Given this importance, entrepreneurs and breeders asked SIDO to build their capacity in the preparation of animal feed to also face the challenge of the constant rise in food prices and the poor quality of the food they are sold.

13 participants were able to participate in this training run by SIDO-DSM from 26th to 30th January, 2026 including participants from Pwani and Simiyu regions. In the course of the training, participants gained an understanding and knowledge of how to select, mix and prepare high-quality animal feed, taking into account the nutritional needs of various species of animals such as cows, chickens, goats, sheep and pigs.

Through this training, breeders will also gain professional skills that will help them increase productivity, protect livestock health, reduce costs, increase income, and invest in sustainable agriculture and livestock. In addition, new jobs will be created, thus contributing to the National Product through the Small Industries Sector in the country.
